THE UNACCOMPANIED SCATTERING OF ASHESOur service of unaccompanied scattering is completed in a respectful and caring manner. The service may contain selected readings and/or other elements of service, as well as music requested by the family. The coordinates of the scattering are recorded and a ‘Certificate of Burial At Sea‘ will be sent to the family of the deceased along with a photograph of remembrance. Unaccompanied scatterings are completed within ten to thirty days of receiving the ashes as the weather permits. While the service of unaccompanied scattering does not allow for the family and friends to accompany the vessel, specific wishes, such as special dates, times, and places for burial are available. THE ACCOMPANIED SCATTERING OF ASHESOur company vessel is a large classic sailing sloop; however, other vessels both power and sail are available to us for transportation to the committal site, these may be more appropriate due to the age, health issues, or the number of your guests. Once at the place of scattering, the thoughtful and inspirational marine committal service begins. This service gives the family and friends an opportunity for personal rememberings, words of meaning and/or religious beliefs. We also provide music upon request. In this marine setting your loved one is laid to rest with care and respect. We think you will find these moments truly helpful in bring peace to the heart. OPTIONS FOR THE LOCATION OF SCATTERINGMarine Memorial Services provides a number of options for the placement of ashes, giving the family choices in where and how they might revisit the site. The coordinates of the scattering are recorded in the ’Certificate of Burial At Sea’ sent to the family, allowing the family to return to the site for a time of personal remembrance. Another option is to have the ashes scattered in an area that can be viewed from shore. In this case the family may revisit this location and feel close to a loved one. Please note that some placement options may incur extra costs depending on the time and difficulty of access to the location. In planning, also note that ashes are generally placed well off shore, due to tides and currents. |
